ABOUT THE STUDY

Our team at The University of Sydney is working with the Australian Human Rights Commission on a study about child wellbeing in the context of parental detention. The aim of the research is to understand how Australia’s immigration detention policies and practices impact the children of detained parents.

Study findings will be used to advocate for policy improvements, as well as better supports for children and families.

To understand children’s experiences, we would like to speak with children who have (or have previously had) a parent detained in Australia’s immigration detention system. We would also like to speak with these children’s parents or guardians, and with the caseworkers who support them.
